 This is the source of the wiki page Template:Par.

THE paragraph source mark (binding contract §2.2, 2026-08-22). At the END of a transcript paragraph or bullet cluster, ``<sup class="ed-src" id="<id>" data-par="<id>"><id> `` renders a small muted section sign (§) — the glyph is painted by MediaWiki:Common.css (.ed-src a::after) so copied prose stays clean, and the mark is a real link to Bot:Evidence boxed on the paragraph's region: a zero-JavaScript door to the source that the click-to-source gadget then ENHANCES with a peek card.

Two roles, one mark:

  • ADDRESS, for machines — the id is printed AT the paragraph it names, so any
 consumer that uses the paragraph (fact extraction, an export, the Phase-D
 ```` claim citation) reads the id right there.
  • EVIDENCE DOOR, for readers — ``Bot:Evidence?t=<id>`` opens the source
 PDF with the region boxed. The id carries its document in its prefix, so no
 ``doc=`` parameter is needed (the gadget resolves it).
The element also carries id="<id>", so ``Document:<path>#<id>`` deep-links straight to the paragraph (a secondary affordance; Common.css gives it a generous scroll-margin-top so the landing shows the paragraph ABOVE the end mark).
data-par — not the bare ``id`` — is what the gadget keys on, so the Phase-D citation twin Template:S can render an IDENTICAL mark on a non-source page without minting a duplicate element id.
Usage:
The id is minted once at Stage-A pairing (``tools/doc_archive/output/pair_paragraphs.py``), carried across builds, never an address, never re-used — the same rules a figure token's id follows. Machine-authored: never hand-write these.
